What is my practice? Skype call discussion

Today i attended the 12:30 call with Adesola and Helen. We discussed in the call the meaning of our 'practice' and what makes up our practice. An important thing we discussed is how your practice is ever changing and it will not stay the same throughout your career. For example you may start out as a dancer and then over time your practice may change to a dance teacher. A transition that is important is that from collage to the professional industry. The transition from how teachers at school perceive you to how you are perceived in the industry as a professional, your self image is an important part of being a professional on social media. Your social media and all forms of web 2.0 are vital for self promotion and how you're perceived as a professional. It is important to understand what you're practice is as a professional this links into self promotion as when people ask what you're practice is for example if you say you're a dancer then people will link you to other dancers this is all part of networking and promoting yourself. This past week i have been looking through the module handbook and making notes on each lens i have done lens 1 notes and am now partially through lens 2 notes. I have also been doing a spider diagram of my practice and what that involves such as going to class, going to rehearsals, networking, auditioning, keeping active, watching shows and researching looking for inspiration. This week i plan to finish my notes on the lenses and start thinking about what i am going to include in my diagram ready for the deadline in December.

Theoretical concept- collective intelligence

Theoretical concept- collective intelligence Reading through Lens 1 I learnt the importance of connectivity on this course as it is about being a community, we use web 2.0 to connect with other people frequently via Skype and our blogs. We are all able to create discussion/ debate via comments and get involved with what we each are doing to progress with our studies. We use our “collective intelligence” to help reflect on the process of the course, we don’t all have to agree or be doing the same thing we are just communicating our own ideas. Mark Zuckerburg (Facebook founder) said that connectivity is a basic human right this links in with ethics as we question the truth behind this statement. We don’t all have equal access to the internet and therefore connectivity for some is more accessible for some than others. I think the internet comes with certain assumptions that swamps some cultures for example I think generally people assume that the older generation are very behind w...
Methodology/ Methods Upon reading the module handbook i havent yet come to terms with the difference between methodology and method , has anybody else found this and if so please comment below your ideas
Today's Skype tutorial with Adesola (one to one) was very helpful. I have now got an idea of where to start on this new beginning of the course. From now i will re read the module one handbook and then get a clear timetable and figure out what Skype calls i plan to addend this term. Another thing i can think more in depth about is my "practice" and how i would describe what i do. In response to Adesola's blog one new beginning i can think of is when i did my first professional job at The Roundhouse, London. I remember feeling a shift from doing shows at school to being treated as a professional. This was a big moment as it is what all those years of training were building up to and it felt like a completely new beginning into not only being a professional but into adulthood. New beginnings can be scary as it is entering into the world of the unknown, in relation to this degree we have entered into the unknown but as we have now started i have already learnt so many ne...
