Theoretical concept- collective intelligence

Theoretical concept- collective intelligence

Reading through Lens 1 I learnt the importance of connectivity on this course as it is about being a community, we use web 2.0 to connect with other people frequently via Skype and our blogs. We are all able to create discussion/ debate via comments and get involved with what we each are doing to progress with our studies. We use our “collective intelligence” to help reflect on the process of the course, we don’t all have to agree or be doing the same thing we are just communicating our own ideas.
Mark Zuckerburg (Facebook founder) said that connectivity is a basic human right this links in with ethics as we question the truth behind this statement. We don’t all have equal access to the internet and therefore connectivity for some is more accessible for some than others. I think the internet comes with certain assumptions that swamps some cultures for example I think generally people assume that the older generation are very behind with technology and the internet, they are not as connected online as people assume the younger generation are. Although this can be said in some cases, it wrong to assume based on age how connected you are online. First world countries are generally more active due to the mass production of technology in these countries therefore have an advantage online to the third world countries  where connectivity is not as accessible to all. The world of dance has massively changed with web 2.0 as we have things now such as Instagram and YouTube where we can look online and gather ideas and learn about new styles of dance. This has made it vital in the industry that you network and connect with others online as this is the way you find out about auditions and things you can do to improve yourself as a dancer in the 21st century.

  1. I like that we are connecting our own ideas... I agree that web 2.0 has had a massive impact. I would be lost without YouTube, and have acquired most of my teaching jobs through dance teacher groups on Facebook. While many changes have had a positive impact on our practice, I feel that the huge abundance of information can sometimes be detrimental to certain aspects. Is there now more pressure on a dancer or teacher to be able to perform or produce a higher standard of work that can now be found online?

    1. Thank you or your comment I agree with this that sometimes the abundance of information can be overwhelming, I think now there is a lot more pressure on dancers or dance teachers to create a higher standard of work due to videos and sources online.

Methodology/ Methods Upon reading the module handbook i havent yet come to terms with the difference between methodology and method , has anybody else found this and if so please comment below your ideas
Today's Skype tutorial with Adesola (one to one) was very helpful. I have now got an idea of where to start on this new beginning of the course. From now i will re read the module one handbook and then get a clear timetable and figure out what Skype calls i plan to addend this term. Another thing i can think more in depth about is my "practice" and how i would describe what i do. In response to Adesola's blog one new beginning i can think of is when i did my first professional job at The Roundhouse, London. I remember feeling a shift from doing shows at school to being treated as a professional. This was a big moment as it is what all those years of training were building up to and it felt like a completely new beginning into not only being a professional but into adulthood. New beginnings can be scary as it is entering into the world of the unknown, in relation to this degree we have entered into the unknown but as we have now started i have already learnt so many ne...
