Today's Skype tutorial with Adesola (one to one) was very helpful. I have now got an idea of where to start on this new beginning of the course. From now i will re read the module one handbook and then get a clear timetable and figure out what Skype calls i plan to addend this term. Another thing i can think more in depth about is my "practice" and how i would describe what i do. In response to Adesola's blog one new beginning i can think of is when i did my first professional job at The Roundhouse, London. I remember feeling a shift from doing shows at school to being treated as a professional. This was a big moment as it is what all those years of training were building up to and it felt like a completely new beginning into not only being a professional but into adulthood. New beginnings can be scary as it is entering into the world of the unknown, in relation to this degree we have entered into the unknown but as we have now started i have already learnt so many new things such as using blog spot and i am now finding my way to see what i need to do in the course so far and have started re-reading the handbook so i can continue on my way to do what i need to in order for me to complete the work in time for the December 17th deadline.

  1. Hi Oona, I too feel like I am entering into the world of the unknown, however reading through my fellow module 1 students blogs, I think we are all feeling the same. I look forward to sharing our ideas soon. charliesteggles.blogspot.com

Hello my name is Oona Thompson welcome to my blog After yesterdays Skype call I found it very helpful in giving me an overview of the course. I have gathered a greater understanding of the degree and what I should expect over the next term. I learnt on uni hub when I log in you can go to "my learning" and then "BAPP" in this you can see your module handbook which I have since been reading through. I have also looked at the academic calendar and looking at the dates putting the dates of the Skype calls in my calendar so I can work around it. We were told by Helen on the call the deadline for any work is the 17th of December which is an important date in my calendar insuring I am organised and can plan up to that date. I have looked at the reading materials briefly since the call to familiarise myself with what we will be studying. I was told about filling out a study plan which I have since completed and sent back as we were told we will use in our first one to...

Inquiry

I have now begun my essay introduction and my chosen inquiry is "What support systems are out there for independent dancers" This is very broad but my focus is particularly on those with body image struggles/eating disorders and also those with injury as a lot of thought goes into their physical well being whereas there isn't a lot that goes into their emotional and mental well being. I have chosen this as my inquiry topic as i think it would be great to understand different peoples experiences and journeys through dance, in order to help those in the future. Any ideas on what you think about this topic would be appreciated greatly Also how are you all getting on choosing which methodology's you are using to get your information be it interviews,  questionnaires or any other ideas you have ? I would love to hear your ideas Oona
Methodology/ Methods Upon reading the module handbook i havent yet come to terms with the difference between methodology and method , has anybody else found this and if so please comment below your ideas
