Hello my name is Oona Thompson welcome to my blog

After yesterdays Skype call I found it very helpful in giving me an overview of the course. I have gathered a greater understanding of the degree and what I should expect over the next term. I learnt on uni hub when I log in you can go to "my learning" and then "BAPP" in this you can see your module handbook which I have since been reading through. I have also looked at the academic calendar and looking at the dates putting the dates of the Skype calls in my calendar so I can work around it. We were told by Helen on the call the deadline for any work is the 17th of December which is an important date in my calendar insuring I am organised and can plan up to that date. I have looked at the reading materials briefly since the call to familiarise myself with what we will be studying. I was told about filling out a study plan which I have since completed and sent back as we were told we will use in our first one to one Skype session with our supervisor. Helen said with every draft we send in we also should send in our feedback exchange form. There is also I reading list for each module online we can look up and if we need to we can get in contact with the librarian Michele. We are allowed one draft per module. Every piece of work must be submitted in a word document. The blogs and Skype discussions will be a useful resource in completing the course, Helen advised it is good to keep posting frequently. During office hours  we are able to contact anyone of the supervisors if we need to and if we need a tutorial we can arrange one with our supervisor via email. Overall I found the Skype session useful in welcoming me onto the course.

Theoretical concept- collective intelligence

Theoretical concept- collective intelligence Reading through Lens 1 I learnt the importance of connectivity on this course as it is about being a community, we use web 2.0 to connect with other people frequently via Skype and our blogs. We are all able to create discussion/ debate via comments and get involved with what we each are doing to progress with our studies. We use our “collective intelligence” to help reflect on the process of the course, we don’t all have to agree or be doing the same thing we are just communicating our own ideas. Mark Zuckerburg (Facebook founder) said that connectivity is a basic human right this links in with ethics as we question the truth behind this statement. We don’t all have equal access to the internet and therefore connectivity for some is more accessible for some than others. I think the internet comes with certain assumptions that swamps some cultures for example I think generally people assume that the older generation are very behind w...
Methodology/ Methods Upon reading the module handbook i havent yet come to terms with the difference between methodology and method , has anybody else found this and if so please comment below your ideas
Today's Skype tutorial with Adesola (one to one) was very helpful. I have now got an idea of where to start on this new beginning of the course. From now i will re read the module one handbook and then get a clear timetable and figure out what Skype calls i plan to addend this term. Another thing i can think more in depth about is my "practice" and how i would describe what i do. In response to Adesola's blog one new beginning i can think of is when i did my first professional job at The Roundhouse, London. I remember feeling a shift from doing shows at school to being treated as a professional. This was a big moment as it is what all those years of training were building up to and it felt like a completely new beginning into not only being a professional but into adulthood. New beginnings can be scary as it is entering into the world of the unknown, in relation to this degree we have entered into the unknown but as we have now started i have already learnt so many ne...
